Garage conversions or backyard apartments are now legal becasue of the recent law that passed in California that allows for an ADU to be built much easier. An ADU is an apartment unit that is built on your property and can be rented out for extra income.

The design and permitting process usually takes 60 days. Once the permits are issued it will take 90-120 days to build your ADU and you can start earning cash.

The homeowners property taxes will increase on average $100 per month. You will have to contact your local county asessors office to get the exact amount that your property taxes will increase.

Newblok can help you manage your new ADU. We charge a flat 15% of the monthly rent and we take care of all tenant screening, maintenance, collecting rent. The homeowner will never be responsible for maintenance cost do to normal wear and tear.

All the utilities are metered separately except for the gas & water.
